What educators are saying

This was a great addition to our study of Arthur Miller's " The Crucible" . It enabled students to see the correlation between the Salem With Trials and how they compared to McCarthy's trials on Communism in the 50's.
Great resource! This really helped explain the connection between the Salem Witch Trials and McCarthyism.

Description

This webquest is designed to give students background information relating to the concepts of McCarthyism and the Salem Witch Trials. I utilized this lesson prior to beginning to read "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller. It requires students to read several articles, complete Cornell notes and a graphic organizer , which are included. Teachers can use a student discussion (fish bowl, Socratic Seminar) following this activity as a formal assessment.
