Description

I wrote this text for my kids as they were very interested about the changes in American currency. They were so excited to hear that Harriet Tubman would be replacing Andrew Jackson, and that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would be making an appearance on a bill, too!

I’ve been working with my kids on close reading, so the color by comprehension on the right side bar of each page helps them with finding specific evidence in the text to help them comprehend.
Students are asked to:
Circle in red = Unknown words
Underline in green = Changes in the currency
Underline in blue = Things staying the same on the currency.
Circle in purple = Important dates

I also included an essay at the end of the packet to help students use this text evidence to support their responses, while also writing their own opinions into a writing piece.

Included:
*An article about the new faces of money.
*Color by Comprehension activity.
*Text detective CLOZE reading activity
*An essay helping students use text evidence from the article.

Enjoy!
