    Author Study Schedule

    Description

Author studies are a key part of the library, reading, and writing curriculum. These author study sheets are the perfect way to use passive and active programming to highlight authors in your library or classroom. These sheets can be used as shelf markers, shelf dividers, visuals on a monthly author display board, or as slides in author study lessons. You could also use these in centers, research projects, or as scrolling slides on a TV or monitor.

This resource includes 10 PowerPoint presentations (1 for each month) with 180 author study sheets. This is part of a curriculum/ schedule for showcasing 2 authors for each for each grade (K - 8th grade) for each month (Sept.-June). This schedule/ outline is included in this bundle. Authors are celebrated on the month of their birthday and grouped by the grades that would be interested in their books. Pseudonyms and authors with summer birthdays (July and Aug.) are are included where there were no authors with a birthday that month. Each of the 10 resources in this bundle lists the authors highlighted for that month.

Each author study sheet is double sided (so there are 2 slides for each author). The front side includes a biography of the author, usually 3 paragraphs about their early life and education, career and books, and personal life. Most of the author studies include a photo of the author.

The back of the author study sheet includes a list of the books they wrote or images of the book covers. If they wrote books in a series, books are shown in order so students know the order in which books are intended to be read. Book cover images are editable; they are not part of the background of the slide. This allows you to add or remove book covers to match your collection or link the book covers to book trailers and book talks.

Along the side of the sheet is the author's name, a genre label, and the call number. If the author wrote books in multiple genres, there is a copy of the author study sheet for each genre they wrote. This allows you to choose the sheet that best matches your collection or if you have a generified collection, you can include a shelf marker in each section.

All the text on the slides is editable, so you can edit the call numbers to match your collection and edit the biography to include the information you desire.
