What educators are saying

My students really liked doing this as a whole group. While we found the writing portion difficult in 3rd grade- and I didn't print it correctly, we made it work and it was so cute! We filled this out and kids loved sharing their answers. This was super cute and fun!

Description

New Years 2024 is an engaging, fun, flip book and a meaningful keepsake for the first day back to school after the holiday break. It is easy to use for Distance Learning as well.
Students can reflect on the best part of 2023 and ring in the New Year by setting goals or making resolutions.

This New Year 2024 Flip Book is easy to make and requires no cutting or pasting. It uses three pieces of paper printed on the front and back. Copy in black and white and add your own color as time permits.

The contents include:

*Best Memories from 2023

*Accomplishments of 2023

*Leap Year ~ Explains why we get an extra day this year and asks the student to determine what he or she might do with an extra day. (Version 1)

*Information about Traditions and Celebrations around the World ~ respond to the question, "What would you consider to be the perfect way to celebrate the new year?" (Version 2)

*A Year to Celebrate ~ using the date ~ similar to an acrostic poem

*Setting Goals for 2024 - Students will set three personal goals and 3 academic goals - give specific examples of what to do to become a better YOU!

*A second version, with different clip art, is also included in order for you to choose the best version for the age and interest of your students.

*Student samples to help students generate ideas

Younger students will need more guidance than older students. The expectation of writing performance will differ from grade level to grade level. Student samples have been included to help 2nd and 3rd graders begin the thinking process before writing their own unique responses. Most 3rd - 6th graders will be able to put the flip book together once it is ran off correctly and students follow the teacher's directions. For 2nd and 3rd graders, I pull 4 or 5 students who are skilled in paper folding and show them exactly how to "cascade" the papers prior to folding. These students then return to their groups and guide their teammates through the process. Occasionally, depending on your printer, students have needed to trim the bottom edge of three sheets prior to folding.

This product will be updated every year. If you purchased last year's version you simply download it again from your TpT file to get the new version year after year. It is not necessary to make an additional purchase.
