"One Call Away" by Charlie Puth- Close Reading with Song Lyrics- Grades 3-6

Songs make a great impact on student learning, and when there is a chance to analyze the text, the learning that takes place is unbelievable.

This lesson is based on the song “One Call Away," by Charlie Puth. The lesson is aimed to help students understand that we need to all support one another, even in difficult times.

Song lyrics, 7 close reading questions, and theme/author's purpose graphic organizers are all included in with this guide.

Students will deepen their understanding and use critical thinking skills to understand the meaning of the song with the questions included.

The lyrics, the metaphors, and the overall theme of this song will create conversation with your students which will have them thinking deeply while reading the text.
