Penguin Collaboration Poster - A great winter activity for your students! This collaboration poster features a colorful, adorable family of penguins.
This contemporary art integration project can serve as a great inspiration for the start of, or a fantastic final culmination to, any penguins unit that you teach.
You can use it to decorate your door or to brighten up practically any spot in your classroom.
This is a project that your kids won't soon forget. This activity is so much fun because, in the end, you will have a very large (approx. 35"x 42”) poster to display in your classroom to go with any penguins unit. Also, along the way, students will work together as a group to create something beautiful with a Pop Art feeling of design and color.
There are two size options for these penguins!
1. Use 25 pieces (Rows A1-E5) to yield a poster approx. 35" x 35"
2. Use all 30 pieces (Rows A1-F5) to yield a poster approx. 35" x 42"
(exact poster size depends on printer settings)
- Each individual piece fits on a regular 8.5" x 11" piece of paper.
I have (in very small font) included a letter to indicate the proper color for each section of the poster. My suggestion is to give students crayons or markers to color this poster. Encourage students to color dark with their crayons so that in the end, the poster will be bright and colorful.
I have included a finished example if you'd like to show your students what they will be making. However, many teachers like to keep it a surprise until it's all put together - kids LOVE that, and the anticipation is so fun!
There are 9 different colors used on the poster, so you’ll have to supply them (probably in multiples) to the students.They are pretty standard colors; black, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, yellow, light blue, and pink. Areas left blank need to be left white. If each student doesn’t have the exact same shade of the colors, it is alright. It just adds “character” to the final product!
After each page is colored by your students, have them cut out the squares and write the corresponding letter and number on the back of the large square they just colored for their penguins poster.
I have provided directions for all steps of this poster, including how to put your penguins collaboration poster together.
I have included a bonus penguins coloring sheet so students that finish early will have something to do.
