This resource includes reading passages about five different hominids, a jigsaw activity to use with your students, an overview slideshow with a brief introduction about the hominids and how the jigsaw works, and two logic puzzles to challenge your students and check for understanding!

Early Human Migration Activity and Google Slideshow

This Early Human Migration Activity and Editable Google Slideshow will make teaching about human migration a more fun and meaningful experience! In this activity, students participate in an inquiry-based challenge to make predictions about where the early humans migrated to first. Then, there is an editable Google Slideshow with a printable graphic organizer that walks students through nine key phases of early human migration.

This Stone Ages Distance Learning activity is a great way for students to demonstrate their understanding of different eras of the Stone Ages in a creative way! In this no-prep activity for Google Slides, students will be creating a selection of Instagram-styled posts for the Paleolithic Era, Mesolithic Era, and the Neolithic Era. In each post, students will include an image, caption, and relevant hashtags that showcase what life was like during that time.

Early Humans Survival Simulation for Google Drive and PDF

This no-prep, game-based Survival Simulation will be the highlight of your Prehistory or Early Humans unit! In this simulation with printable and digital options, students will choose where they will live, the type of shelter they will build, the skills they will have, and whether they will work alone or with others. As they acquire goods, find food, or migrate, students will encounter challenges that may have been faced by early humans. Simulations can be such fun and meaningful activities, but they often take a lot of work and preparation to set up, which is why we did all of the work for you! You don't need to cut, purchase, or set-up anything to do this simulation, simply present the slideshow to your students and copy or share the handout with them. This simulation features eight different rounds of competition. In each round, students must make a decision about a certain topic or roll the dice to see what they might have experienced during prehistoric times.
