Love, love, love this! Thank you for helping me not have to recreate the wheel(rubric) for RACE writing. I like this resource a lot and use it frequently. The poster all helps the students remember each part of what they need to do.
Description
Rubric can be used when grading students writing. This is a great tool to help give students specific feedback on their answers. Also, I used this tool in the class during peer reviews. A student would read another student's work and give them feedback using the rubric. It was very rewarding to see the students using the vocabulary from RACE when discussing the scores with their writing buddy. Soon after introducing the rubric I saw improvements in the students scores.This tool is a MUST HAVE!
Comes with a colorful RACE poster that can be put in students interactive notebooks to posted in the classroom.
RACE is a writing acronym used to help students write open response questions:
R-Restate question
A- Answer question
C- Cite evidence
E- Explain answer and how evidence supports your answer
The rubric and poster is included in my RACE UNIT (that can be purchased on my TpT store). The RACE Unit is an effective tool for the classroom use to teach the students the RACE strategy. This unit includes:
~4 page RACE anchor chart
~4 RACE writing graphic organizers in black and white
~3 RACE writing graphic organizers copied in color
~Sample completed graphic organizer
~Sample writing response prompt with answer key
~RACE Bookmarks
