Right Triangle Trigonometry Finding Missing Sides Scavenger Hunt Activity

During this activity, students travel around the room to find the missing sides of right triangles using sine, cosine, and tangent.

This activity is a great opportunity to group students or let students work with a partner. Students begin by starting at a random station. After a student has found the answer to a station, he will visit the next station using the answer he found. Students continue to move at their own pace through the stations until they have visited all of them. What makes this kind of activity great for teachers is the fact that students immediately know if they have a correct or incorrect answer. If a student’s answer is not written on one of the stations, the student knows that his answer is not correct.

This product contains 16 full-page stations with color. Each station includes a different trigonometry question, requiring students to solve for a missing side of a right triangle. 4 of the stations are word problems. The stations with word problems have a drawing/diagram to help students make sense of the problem. Also included is a student answer sheet and an answer key! All of the answers are rounded to the nearest tenth.
