What educators are saying

This was a great stations activity that summarized key characters in the Russian Revolution. I used it as an introductory lesson. Thank you for making this resource.
Great overview of the Russian Revolution and the key players. Students had really good discussion about who was more important in the Revolution.

Description

In this Russian Revolution (Bolshevik Revolution) activity, students learn about the events leading up to this major event in Russian history, plus several of the major players in the Bolshevik Revolution, such as Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Leon Trotsky, Alexander Kerensky, and the influence of Karl Marx. Students complete a background reading assignment (complete with analysis questions) about Bloody Sunday, the role of Tsar Nicholas II, the February Revolution, the role of the provisional government, the October Revolution, and the reforms established once Vladimir Lenin rose to power.

In the second piece to this resource, students complete a "who's who" activity to understand the role of several key players in the Russian Bolshevik Revolution. Students learn about the influence of Karl Marx (and Freidrich Engels) and the Communist Manifesto, the rise of Vladimir Lenin and his role in earlier rebellions until his rise to lead the Bolshevik Revolution, the influence of revolutionary Leon Trotsky, the impact of a young Joseph Stalin on earlier revolutions until his domination of the Soviet Union, and lastly the role of Alexander Kerensky and the provisional government established after the February Revolution.

This resource would be an outstanding, all-inclusive approach to the Russian Revolution as students emerge learning the causes, impact, and several of the revolutionaries involved.
