What educators are saying

This is a great file folder activity to use with students with disabilities. Very easy to make, low prep, and my students really enjoyed it.
Easy to print and use! I keep this in my Science center all year long. My students are constantly using this and matching the animals.

    Description

This is a bundle of my visual discrimination science center activity puzzles where students match a close up of the animal's skin/fur/scales to the actual animal using high quality real photos. Print and digital version included. These puzzles promote attention to detail, identifying comparing and contrasting real animals, and exploring parts of different animals - all great things for our budding scientists. Ideal for prek, kindergarten and first grade.

Each puzzle pair is uniquely cut so that the student can use during independent use. It can also be used in a large group by giving each student one puzzle piece and they have to find a friend that has the match.

Ocean puzzles: seal, jelly fish, sea urchin, walrus, shark, lion fish, orca (killer whale), powder blue tang fish, sea shell, clown fish, sea turtle, sea horse, octopus, another seashell and a dolphin.

Pets puzzles: a rabbit, hermit crab, iguana lizard, cat, hedgehog, chinchilla, gerbil, tarantula spider, tortoise, guinea pig, parrot, 2 dogs, gold fish.

Zoo puzzles: an elephant, tiger, peacock, zebra, cheetah, tortoise, giraffe, crocodile, gorilla, snake, orangutan, frog, flamingo, toucan bird, and a brown bear.

Mother and Baby Animals: goose: goose and gosling; Lion: cub and lioness; orangutan: female and baby; horse: mare and foal; panda: sow, cub; sheep: ewe and lamb; polar bear: sow and cub; dog: dog and pup; elephant: cow and calf; pig: sow and piglet; cat: queen and kitten; rabbit: kit and doe; rhinoceros: cow and calf; donkey: jennet and colt; goat: doe and kid; frog: frog and tadpole; giraffe: doe and calf; chicken: hen and chick; cow: cow and calf; butterfly: female and caterpillar.

Farm: a horse, cow, rabbit, turkey, goose, goat, tractor, dog, hen with eggs, cat, rooster, sheep, pig, and donkey.

This is a great activity to supplement themed lesson plans like: ocean theme, shark theme, aquarium theme, pets theme, zoo theme, farm theme, or animals theme.

Use in: Large group | Small Group | Independent Use | Science Center | Early finishers | Virtual Learning | Homework.

    What makes it extra special?

The pictures in this resource activity are high quality photographs of real animals.

Color printers work well, but if you can afford it, I would have them printed at your local photo center on 8x10 photo paper.

How you can use this resource:

    - Stock them in your science or math centers for independent use

    - Use them in large group time by giving each student one puzzle piece and instruct them to find a friend that has the matching piece

    - Assign them to hybrid or online students
