Description

Teach smarter, not harder! Are your students struggling with writing complete sentences or understanding sentence structure? Transform your students' writing with this meaningful and engaging 5 week sentence writing unit.

Includes what every teacher needs...

  • print and teach resources (no prep)
  • answer keys
  • complete lesson plans with "I can" statements
  • BOTH print and digital versions included
  • thorough, yet minimal time needed to implement
  • quick assessment checks
  • inexpensive (I teach 3rd grade, so I get it.)

Let's face it! Writing has become a HUGE challenge since our instruction was forced into distanced learning. Now more than ever, our students need well-planned essential tools and activities to help them establish good writing foundations.

This 5-week unit starts with understanding basic sentence structure and progressively scaffolds instruction so students can construct more complex sentences by the end of the unit.

Implementation is super easy with this print and digital sentence writing resource! Just print or assign and teach using the lesson plans included. The digital version is colorful and interactive to increase student engagement.

As an ELA teacher, I totally get it! We all know much of our instructional time is focused on reading and math to help our kiddos get where they need to be. Sometimes writing and grammar is a challenge to "fit" it all in. Fortunately, the daily activities in this unit can have a major impact, yet take very little time.

This resource includes ready-to-go lesson plans and meaningful activities to kick off students' understanding of sentence structure, types of sentences, as well as compound, and complex sentences. That's five weeks of lessons for only $1.20 per week or .85 cents per week if you get the BUNDLE! Perfect for introducing sentence concepts in your 3rd or 4th grade grammar instruction, for sub plans, or for solid review in 5th!

This no-prep resource includes 5 weeks of lesson plans (with "I Can" statements and individual links for digital activities) for teaching the following concepts about sentences:

✏️Subject & Predicate

✏️Sentence vs. Fragment

✏️The 4 Types of Sentences (two versions)

  • statement, question, command, exclamation
  • declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory

✏️Compound Sentences

✏️Complex Sentences

For each of the 5 concepts above, this resource provides:

✅ An Introduction activity (Day 1)- Introduce sentence concept / guided Practice

✅ A Practice Page (Day 2) Guided / independent practice

✅ An Interactive Notebook activity (Day 3) Independent practice with application

✅ A Concept Sort (Day 4) Independent or partner practice

✅ An Assessment Check (Day 5) Demonstrate mastery

Through these various activities, students should gain a strong sense of what a sentence is, what types of sentences there are, and how sentences can be simple, compound, or complex. More importantly, students should be applying these concepts within their own writing.

With overwhelming requests by teachers to create more units with the same format, I've just released a Parts of Speech Unit!
