What educators are saying
Description
Smart goal setting comes almost naturally to teachers. We set and crush goals on the daily!
Let me ask you a question. Are your students goal-getters?
I would say most of them, well, just aren’t. The number one reason behind this? They haven’t seen it modeling or they haven’t practiced it.
They aren’t SMART goal setting because they don’t know HOW to set goals and they don’t know how powerful goal setting can be

- This resource is now digital! Using TPT's digital activities resource!
Students create, manage, and reflect upon their goals each week!
Goal & reflection sheet can be sent home on Friday for parents to review student’s goals & teacher’s comments. After it is
signed, students return to school! This is a great way to stay connected with parents!
Also, keep a copy for your files to monitor progress & behavior!
Suggested Use In The Classroom:
- Pass out the weekly goal sheet on Monday, and have the students create their goals using the three steps.
- Students keep goal sheets and tracking logs in a binder or folder at the student’s desk or a specific location in the classroom.
- The students will use their goal tracking log/journal to track their progress and record any notes, ideas, challenges, etc… (Tracking log/journal can be copied on the back of the goal setting/reflection sheet, or it can be completely separate.)
- On Friday, students reflect upon their week and determine if their goal was met.
- The teacher takes up all papers, rates behavior, and provides comments. This will be used as feedback for parents & students.
- The teacher gives the papers back to the students to take home. Students take the goal sheets to their parents.
- Parents review, sign, and send the sheet back to school.
- The teacher collects signed goal/reflection sheets for review.
- Sheets can be filed by the teacher, or students can keep them in data binders or working folders.
- Use the included bulletin display to keep the momentum going all year long!
Change these directions to meet the needs of your classroom! These are only suggestions on possible implementation! There is also a goal sheet included that can be used for ANY time frame as well as EDITABLE sheets to meet your needs.
