Description

This social skills unit consists of 7 complete lessons. Lesson topics include: appropriate humor, good sportsmanship, handling arguments, making and keeping friends, physical bullying, cyber bullying, and gossip.

Lessons will take approximately 2-3 class periods for class durations of 45 minutes. Variables to consider when determining the amount of time to allot for a lesson include the strengths/needs of the group and the level of depth for discussion questions.

For each lesson, students will focus on a specific topic and receive explicit instruction, examples, non-examples, group discussion, and at least one engaging activity. Activities vary among lessons in order to teach to multiple learning styles. Engaging activities will foster learning of the skill presented in addition to cooperation and collaboration among peers.

Materials needed in addition to basic classroom supplies include glitter and the book, Mr. Peabody’s Apples. If borrowing the book from a local library is not an option, a link to a video reading of the book is provided in this resource. Please keep in mind that using the video link will require internet access.

This unit makes a perfect addition to your social skills instruction.

The terms of use is included in the document.
