Stretchy Snake Word Stretch Freebie

Stretchy Snake Word Stretch Freebie is a fun way to introduce stretching each sound in a word. In small group introduce Stretchy the Snake. Show one of the large stretch Snakes (laminate prior to use). Give out the 9 pictures and call the children up one at a time. Explain that each box gets one letter and demonstrate stretching the sounds and write one letter for each box (using a dry-erase marker). Next at the center, the boys and girls will choose a snake and use the recording sheet to write the words. Stretchy is there to remind them to stretch out each of the three sounds.
