Summarizing (Summarising) - Reading Comprehension Bundle

This bundle combines my five popular, summarizing (summarising) resources, as listed below.

Summarizing (Summarising) - Reading Worksheet Pack

Includes ten worksheets to help teach summarizing (summarising) as a reading strategy. Each worksheet includes a reading passage followed by questions and prompts asking students to summarize (summarise) the text in their own words.

This worksheet pack includes a combination of fiction and non-fiction texts.

There are also four graphic organizers for summarizing (summarising), summarizing (summarising) notes, and one page of sentence starters/prompts.

Great as a review or a homework activity.

This resource includes a digital (Google Slides) version. See the end page of the resource for the details and the link to access the digital version.

Please note: Answers are not included due to the subjective nature of summarizing (summarising).

    Summarizing (Summarising) - Task Cards

This resource includes 40 task cards to reinforce summarizing (summarising) as a reading strategy. Task cards cover a range of ability levels. Students are asked to summarize (summarise) a short passage of text, with the passages getting progressively more difficult as they move through the cards. An answer key sheet is provided for students to write their answers. Alternatively, students could complete the answers out in their books.

This resource includes a digital (Google Slides) version. See the end page of the resource for the details and the link to access the digital version.

Please note: Answers are not included due to the subjective nature of summarizing (summarising).

Summarizing (Summarising) Reading Strategy Powerpoint - Guided Teaching

A teaching PowerPoint designed to help teach summarizing (summarising) to students.

Includes a learning objective and three success criteria so that students are aware of the goals of the lesson. Explains what summarizing (summarising) is and why we summarize (summarise). The PowerPoint also includes basic, step-by-step instructions on how to summarize (summarise). There are several opportunities for students to practice summarizing (summarising) either independently or during a class discussion.
