Description

In this Tet Offensive primary source activity, students understand the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War by examining the role of the North Vietnamese and the reaction from the United States military, politicians, and the public. Students complete a short analysis of the Tet Offensive that teaches the event and provides four short-reading questions to assess student understanding. Then, students engage with a primary source of the event: the words of CBS journalist Walter Cronkite and his assessment of the Vietnam War following the Tet Offensive. Students then interact with a variety of excerpts from Cronkite's words, then make a claim on the effectiveness of the Tet Offensive.
