Description

These culture-themed Montessori style three-part nomenclature cards introduce and celebrate 20 important African American musicians, singers, actors, authors, and poets from the Harlem Renaissance middle grades Literature, History, or Art Appreciation unit studies.

These are the artists that helped form the foundation not only for the style of art, music, literature, and fashion that came out of New York City in the 1920s and 1930s but also for the entire twentieth century.

Each card features a true-to-life photograph of the artist to engage students in learning about these gifted artists.

Three-part cards are self-correcting! Use the cards in a variety of ways with your lessons and games.

Artists included:

  • Authors: WEB DuBois, Jessie Redmon Fauset, James Wheldon Johnson, Zora Neale Hurston, Charles Spurgeon Johnson, Alain Locke
