The Noongar Seasons - Display
What educators are saying
Description
This display is designed to show how the 6 Noongar Seasons match up with the months of the year and where they overlap with Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring.
It includes:
-2 different styles of heading (one A4 landscape and one a banner)
-1 x page for each Noongar Season with symbols and a description of the season -(including traditionally what their season would ‘look like’).
-Labels of the months of the year
-Labels for Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring.
I live in the the ‘Gnaala Karla Booja’ Region, and would like to acknowledge the Noongar People, Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live today, and pay my respects to their Elders past and present.
Note: I am not a native Australian. These clipart symbols were purchased at “Glitter Meets Glue” and were not created by myself.
This resource provides a general idea of what traditionally happened in each season. However, it is important to note that the different geographical locations of the Noongar People would vary slightly. ie. People living in the southern parts may have moved inland early than the people living in the northern parts during the cooler weather.
I hope for this resources aide in the teaching and understanding of the 6 Noongar Seasons in local classrooms to both students and adults as we celebrate the magical changes of the seasons of our beautiful country.
