Description

I don't have enough time in the day to teach everything, so I made it my goal to teach social studies through literature and chapter books. This packet includes questions to go with the Scholastic book, "The Orphan of Ellis Island." My kids love this book and it is definitely one of my favorite fictional books to teach during immigration studies.

Immigration BUNDLE is also available by clicking here!

I also included primary source photographs from the Library of Congress in this packet for kids to analyze. This gives kids a first-hand look at what life was really like during the early 1900s at Ellis Island.

The questions in this packet are both short answer and multiple choice. I tried to make most of the questions as much like the State Test as possible, as to prepare the kiddos without cramming for the test.

I sometimes use this packet as a read aloud supplement and other times, use this within small group guided reading and lit. circles.

Thanks for looking.
