What educators are saying

We loved reading the two stories and being able to compare and contrast them. I specifically liked the venn diagram and the different options/levels of questions that I could choose from for my child to answer. We had a lot of fun with this one!

Description

Reading The True Story of the Three Little Pigs? This compare and contrast folktale unit was created for use with The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka and a traditional retelling of The Three Little Pigs. In my classroom, I use James Marshall’s version of The Three Little Pigs for these activities, but any traditional retelling will pair well.

Here’s what you’ll find inside:

• vocabulary reference sheet with visuals

• story maps

• summary writing graphic organizer

• character description graphic organizers and writing prompts

• Venn diagrams for comparing the stories

• comprehension strips with recording sheets

• writing prompts

All the activities are designed to help students compare and contrast, read for understanding, and think critically about the texts. Many options for differentiation and/or scaffolding of tasks are provided.
