Description

Totem poles are the most iconic and recognizable symbol of many Native American and Canadian First Nations groups in the Pacific Northwest of the US and British Columbia, Canada. This lesson and activity help introduce primary students to totem poles and allows students to make their own totem poles! A fun introduction to cultures of the Indigenous people of the Northwest Coast, this lesson is also a great addition to a unit on Aboriginal/Indigenous education, place-based learning, community, art, traditions, and more!
