I wanted a non-fiction packet for my third graders to use while we studied The Polar Express...so, here it is!
Included are three articles and activities to use for students to learn about trains. I included a basic informational page about the history and transition of trains, along with an organizer for students to fill in showing the process of change to the locomotive over the years.
Also included is a fun facts/vocabulary sheet for students. The activity that goes with this page requires students to research more fun facts on trains (you could always leave this page if you don't have time to have kids explore).
The last page is on the history of trains in the United States. There are then 6 questions that go along with the non-fiction article.
