Description
In this history lesson, students come to understand why we study history by learning more about famous individuals who chose to focus on a History major in college. Students are surprised to learn that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Lew Alcindor), Shakira, and Jimmy Buffet (among many others) also studied history in college!

Students examine 12 posters to realize that many famous people have also studied history, the importance of history, and why this subject is worth studying. Students complete a 2-page "Who am I" chart as they search each poster, then students complete a short writing prompt where they reflect on what they have learned!
