Quick Overview:
At the beginning of each week students are given a pretest over a specific word family. Depending on their score, they have the option of two different word lists to study-one on third grade level and one that is more challenging.
Students work on these words and are held accountable for them at the end of the week BUT, they are also held accountable for the word family and so they are given 5 unstudied words to assess skill application. This ensures they are not just memorizing words.
Students are also have 5 high frequency, or personal words, that they work on for the week. This keeps all your spellers challenged all year long!
