Area of Rectangle &Triangle with Formula; Special Ed; Differentiated Geometry

This is a modified worksheet from the middle school geometry curriculum. It is excellent for special education students who require an alternate or modified curriculum. This worksheet includes four rectangles/squares and four triangles. The pages are separated by shape so they can be given one at a time. The worksheets have the formula for area broken down into easy steps. Students have to fill in the blanks, which will help them solve the equation.

Activities in this product are based on Common Core Standard 3.MD.C.5. These activities provide conceptually understanding of area by using color tiles and geoboards (geoboard paper). These activities use a hands on, visual approach to understanding area. Activity 1: Students use color tiles with a set area to find the figure’s dimensions Activity 2: Students use color tiles to tile (without gaps or overlays) a figure to determine the area of a figure Activity 3: Students use geoboards o

Describing Geometric Figures with Word Bank; Differentiated for Special Ed

This worksheet contains the same material but is differentiated to ease student response based on need. Students are given four shapes and asked to describe the size, color, and shape. The first page is for the lowest level: students are to cut out the words at the bottom of the page and glue them into the correct box. Three descriptors will go in each box. The second page provides a word bank. Students are to choose words from the word bank to write in the boxes next to each shape. The third

Tasty 3D Shapes

A fun way to introduce students to 3D shapes. They need to identify the shape, draw a picture of it, and then identify how many vertices and flat surfaces it has. Shapes on this activity and the foods I used to go with them (you can use a lot of different things as well) are: pyramid - picture on the worksheet cube - cheese cube cylinder - tootsie roll cone - bugle sphere - whoppers (or you could do a sphere cereal) rectangular prism- wafer
