Sports, Bullying, and Education
This interdisciplinary packet is called Athletes Against Bullying. It's a series of scenarios about sportsmanship, sports, and bullying that require students to think, reflect on their choices and actions, and solve problems.
I found in my classroom that the students really enjoyed math or reading assignments when paired with something they were interested in. I had a student complain about reading all the time. I found a TPT basketball packet with reading and math problems, and he loved it.

Watson's Go to Birmingham Literature Packet
I created this literature packet to accompany "The Watson's go to Birmingham -1963" by Christopher Paul Curtis. My students greatly enjoy reading this novel. I use these questions for discussion, literature circles, as well as individual comprehension grades.

Reading Strategies Bookmarks
These handy bookmarks are a great way to encourage your students to use reading strategies while they read independently. Each bookmark lists a skill (see below), then explains the associated strategy ("what readers do"), as well as a list of "how to" steps. These bookmarks can be given to students for short periods of time, based on their individual reading needs.

Missouri Learning Standards written in a kid friendly format for student agendas or morning work. These are a great way for students to know exactly what they are learning! Easy to edit, print and hang in your room, switching them out when starting a new standard.

Character Traits Using Text Evidence
This product allows students to list the character they are explaining, the trait they are using to describe them, and then a spot to write in the evidence from the text that supports their thinking. The Common Core Standards are pushing students to use evidence to support their ideas, this is a great product to guide students in that direction!
