Description

These paired passages are perfect to work on reading comprehension and compare and contrast standards. There are 8 different passages that have paired themes for the month of February. These no prep activities would be great for whole group, small group, or independent practice for your fluent readers. The themes covered in February are Valentine's Day, George Washington, Abe Lincoln, and Snow. After reading the passage, students work on answering the questions provided and illustrating a piece of the passage. They could reread the passages for fluency practice as well. Once both passages are read and completed, students can use the Venn diagram that is provided to compare both passages. Students can write the similarities and differences or cut and paste the given words onto the sorting mat.

Titles Included:

  • Young Abe Lincoln & Abe Lincoln Later Years
  • Valentine's Day & Cupid
  • George Washington & George for President
  • The Hat & Playing in the Snow
