I am in my fourth year of teaching high school ceramics and my ninth year of teaching. I have taught a variety of art courses over the years and have developed curricula for Art 1-3, Art History, Sculpture, Figure Drawing, 2D Design, 3D Design, Material Exploration, and Ceramics 1-2 courses. I built the art program at a charter school in Northeast Philadelphia, have served on the branding committee of one of my former schools, and have spoken at several conferences.
My teaching style is on the choice-based spectrum. I give my students prompts as a jumping-off point, but they have a significant amount of choice in how they approach the project and prompt and what the subject of their work will be. Each lesson focuses on a technique and students are asked to showcase their understanding of that technique in their artwork.
