Wow! What a journey I have been on as a teacher… from teaching 6th grade to 2nd grade and settling in 5th for the last 10 years.. and then embarking on my journey of being a mother which is a whole new kind of teacher, I have learned so much! Observing and reflecting on numerous teaching styles (and tweaking my own) has given me the resources and knowledge to strive to be a better teacher every day. I am always improving and reflecting on my work. I love making things for all grade levels and learners, especially now since having my own children. Now I have been teaching almost 10 years and have been loving this creative process!
Structure is so important! I always have detailed lesson plans, student activities, and an assessment to make sure students are grasping the concepts before I move on to the next! I always add that element of fun because kids these days need to be engaged. It is getting harder and harder to keep my students focused. I could stand on my head some days and they still won't listen. So, I have learned to work smarter and not harder... because I still need my energy for when I go home to my own kiddos! My resources that I create have helped me to motivate my students and get them to accomplish what I need them to, but allow them to have fun in the process... win, win! My interactive notebooks are my favorite thing to keep kids interested in ELA as well as my holiday themed math tasks which I am really proud of. Check them out and let me know what you think!
I have won 'Teacher of the Year' in my school which was really amazing because you have to be nominated by parents! Sheesh... And most importantly, I award myself in being a good helper to other teachers. I love sharing my resources and hearing how they helped a teacher steal back their nights and weekends because they weren't stuck planning the whole time :) If you need a product that you do not see in my store, please ask me! I probably have something, I just haven’t gotten around to posting it yet!
I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University before my love of teaching took over my life. Back to school I went to complete a Masters degree in Education from Hofstra University. Best decision of my life!
Teaching is my passion and I am glad there is a website where teachers can share all their hard word with each other!
