Hey there! I'm Tana Sexton, an enthusiastic language arts teacher with experience in private and Title One schools. I'm passionate about nurturing a love for reading and writing in my students while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. From decoding literature to crafting compelling essays, I'm dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential.
With a creative and hands-on approach, I believe that students thrive when they are actively engaged in meaningful projects. By designing exciting challenges that integrate language arts concepts, my classroom becomes a hub of exploration and collaboration. Through project-based learning, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills while connecting the curriculum to real-life experiences. It's all about fostering a love for learning, empowering students to take ownership of their education, and igniting a lifelong passion for language arts.
Teacher of the Month 2022; Emerging Teacher of the Year 2023-24
I have a Bachelor's in Education with a solid foundation in educational theory and practices. This has equipped me to become a skilled and compassionate educator. However, a large part of my education came from my experience in child welfare - where I learned through "hands-on" experience the importance of rapport and relationship building when connecting with students.
