Hey new teacher friends! I’m Katie. With 5 years of teaching experience and a 1.1 PME from Hibernia College, I’ve faced and conquered my own math anxiety. I used to cry over math homework as a child, and now I’m here to ensure you never feel that way about teaching it! Cáit’s Classroom started as a fun project and has grown into a go-to resource for NQTs. I’m dedicated to helping you build confidence and provide meaningful, real-world math lessons and resources for your 3rd-6th grade students.
My teaching style is all about making math accessible, engaging, and fun for both students and teachers. I focus on creating dynamic, hands-on lesson plans and resources that are aligned with both CCSSM and the new Irish Primary Mathematics Curriculum. Each resource is designed to build your confidence as an NQT, making it easier to deliver effective and meaningful math lessons. My approach is student-centered, incorporating real-world examples, interactive activities, and plenty of opportunities for discussion and problem-solving. With my resources, you can look forward to a classroom where math is not just another subject, but an exciting and integral part of your students' learning journey.
I graduated first in my class for both my undergraduate and master's degrees, showing just how much I love and am dedicated to elementary education. Being a three-time Undergraduate Awards alumna and having my work published in the OMEP Ireland Journal are just a few highlights of my journey. These achievements mean I'm well-equipped to help you navigate the challenges of teaching math. I'm here to share my expertise and support you every step of the way!
