Cheri Sing has taught World Languages for nearly a decade in urban and rural districts in southeastern Michigan. She currently teaches French and Spanish to 7th and 8th grade students at Mill Creek Middle School in Dexter, Michigan.
I like to teach in the target language as much as possible. I try to use as many colorful images and videos as I can to grab student interest. My chair is always cold because I am constantly moving around the room, conducting the learning like a police officer conducting traffic! My methods are quite effective, and for that I must thank my wonderful methods teacher, Dr. Anne Nerenz of Eastern Michigan University. I would not be the teacher I am today without her teachings and guidance. Merci beaucoup, Dr. Nerenz!
The last award I received was from our student body who awarded me the "Most Animated Teacher Award." Please see "My Teaching Style" for more information!
I graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a BA in French and from Eastern Michigan University with a post-bac secondary provisional teaching certificate. Currently enrolled at Walden University with completion of a master's degree expected in April, 2013, my master's program focuses on integrating technology into the classroom.
In addition to teaching World Languages, I also teach and perform a variety of world dance styles. I love to learn about culture and language. I currently speak three languages, and I look forward to learning Arabic and Italian in the future. World travel haunts my dreams every night, and I will make it to South America before I finish my World tour!
