My name is Kelly Terry. I've been a middle school science teacher for over 25 years. I have taught life, earth, physical, marine, and environmental science. I'm also a fluent Spanish speaker and occasionally teach Spanish 1, and in the past, I've taught earth, physical, and life science in Spanish as a bilingual educator. I was our school's lead teacher for the Ocean Guardians School program, and I advise "Team Chiroptera," which is doing bat-related research with a local scientist. I also enjoy my work as an illustrator and artist, too.
Hands-on, project based, across curricular areas, appealing to the multiple intelligences, technology and outdoor education embracing, and most of all...fun!
2012 Ocean Guardians Outstanding Lead Teacher

I love learning new things and helping kids to learn new things, especially in the realm of science. I have a huge interest in the environment and hope that my students will carry with them a strong sense of stewardship for our planet. I spend a lot of time outdoors, researching and finding out new things about what I teach, and volunteer for a local organization dedicated to the wellness of the oceans. I aspire to be a scientific illustrator when I retire from teaching. Each summer, my husband and I live in our little camper for about two months at a time as we enjoy our "geology adventures" across the US.
