Elementary Ali - Teacher's Workstation

I am a Texas teacher and I LOVE Science. I specialize in literacy and standards based learning (TEKS & NGSS). Teaching 5th grade Science, English Language Arts, and Social Studies in an Exemplary Elementary School (and well organized district) built my classroom experience. So, I know the demands of preparing students to pass STAAR tests (standardized testing). After teaching in elementary, I taught preschool in a Kindergarten Prep classroom. Prior to teaching elementary, I spent a year in middle school (7th and 8th grade) Science working with the Science department head. As the lead Science teacher in an elementary school, I have worked to train and support teachers in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. I create resources to help elementary teachers build a foundation in science skills and concepts. Science is fun for kids, and teaching it can be just as fun for the teachers! I believe in making learning fun and meaningful to each student! Having an interactive, hands on, student-directed classroom makes learning come alive for the students, and time flies by for students and teachers. With the right resources and attitude, you can easily make your classroom a playground for learning. Movement, talking, and playing are all very important to me in my lessons. I try to balance activity with structured reading and writing time in every class. Each of my lessons uses the"fun stuff" to make sure the kids get the standards and know them very well.
