Our Contrastive Linguistics method evolved slowly in the early 1970's when Carmelo, the author, was a student of English. (Carmelo is Italian.) His passion for learning English so moved his English teacher, a British journalist, that they decided to open a school for teaching English in Seville, Spain. (Quite a feat, because they had to learn Spanish first!). Initially, they taught with the study materials of the most famous British linguists, but in a short time they decided to write their own teaching materials. As their students' questions surfaced, Carmelo and his English teacher developed clearer and clearer explanations, helping them to overcome their difficulties. In 1992, Carmelo and his family, together with his teacher, moved back to Italy and he continued teaching English. His English teacher passed away in 1994. She was 88 years old. Nonetheless, together with his wife Debra, Carmelo adapted his English course for his Italian students, creating English for Italians. (Debra is American.)
Serious foreign students of English need in-depth, problem solving study material.
