I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist for 23 years. I have worked in a variety of settings, from private practice, to home care, to school district. I love creating products that help my students, and I hope you will enjoy them as well. My caseload over the years has included preschool through age 21. I enjoy working with all age levels. I have extensive experience in starting up a life skills program from the ground up, teaching a speech/language course daily with my life skills students. I have also worked with preschoolers and school age students in their homes, as well as in a private special education school.
It is hard for me to describe my teaching style. I am creative, and enjoy creating fun and engaging lessons.
I received a full clinical scholarship for graduate school. The award was based on grades, clinical practice, and creativity throughout the first semester of graduate school. I was inducted into the honor society in both undergraduate and graduate school. I received a Teacher of the Year award from my school district's Special Education Parent Teacher Association. I received my certificate of a Clinical a competence (CCC) in 1995, and currently hold a New York State license and a Teacher of Speech and Hearing license.
I received both my Baxhelors and Mastsrs degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. While I was there, I studied under Judith Duchan and Jack Katz. I participated in several independent studies on phonological disorders, auditory processing, and swallowing (I met and worked with Jeri Logemann!). The first day I walked into my introduction to language development course I was hooked! I truly love this field and its diversity.
I live on Long Island with my husband of 20 years, my 11 year old son, and my 8 year old daughter. In my spare time, I am an avid reader, and I love to cook.
