As an advanced and gifted Language Arts teacher, I am passionate about the need for students to become more proficient in the English language than they are expected to be. It is the elementary and middle school classroom that builds that foundation, but it is in high school, college and the adult life where that ability to communicate effectively plays an integral role. Having over ten years of teaching ELA, I understand the struggle to engage students in subjects such as grammar and writing. My hope is that my resources provide teachers the opportunity to have fun with their students as they learn, to challenge students who are ready to move forward, to find a way to spiral standards that absolutely need to be spiraled, and to inspire children to want to know more about how we use words and our ability to communicate.
I believe in integrating grammar with reading and writing. This approach allows students to understand the importance of the proper use of the English language. Additionally, it provides a variance from the typical grammar worksheet and writing topic.
Yet to be added
I taught grades 1, 3 and 4 in elementary school and Advanced and Gifted ELA in grades 7 and 8. I am gifted certified. Currently, I am a grammar and writing tutor. I tutor over 50 students each week; these students range from grades 3 through college. I also prepare students for the English, reading and writing sections of the ACT and SAT tests. My understanding of what juniors and seniors need to know in those sections of their college entry test is what makes me the grammar and writing teacher I am today.
Although I graduated with a degree in middle grades education, I spent over a decade in business. I was an analyst and consultant and an executive recruiter prior to finding my true home in the classroom. I am passionate about reaching children and helping them fulfill their highest potential while raising their levels of confidence.
