TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was middle school teacher for 10 years (I can't believe it's been that long) before moving on to become a school counselor. While teaching, my focus was mostly on 6-8th social studies and science, and I spent some time in a 6th grade classroom. Currently, I am getting my feet wet as a K-5 counselor.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching mostly focused on student-collaboration and student-generated projects, but it truly depends on what I am teaching. I was a convert to using interactive notebooks to give students a chance to process their learning. First and foremost, I believe you have to create a relationship with your students to have an collaborative environment where students feel safe to learn and make mistakes.
