I have taught as a K-5 One-on-one instructional assistant (special programs and general education classrooms). In 2023, I Student taught in a kindergarten classroom. Other experience includes being a Teacher assistant in a 2 yr old childcare classroom. As well as teaching assistant in a local homeschool co-op (science/PE).
I really enjoy the Reggio Emilia approach as it places an emphasis on natural objects. My dream classroom environment would have natural wooden chairs and tables, as well as natural lighting. The Montessori approach is another inspiration in my approach to teaching, as it encourages children to play the main role in their learning. I believe it is important that learning be child led.
During my time at Johnston Community College, I was awarded a scholarship that would help fund a portion of my tuition. I was also inducted in the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Attended a local charter school from K-1st grade and was homeschooled from 2nd grade-high school. Attended college at Johnston Community College and East Carolina University
I am a mom of three who has decided not to go into the classroom as a full-time teacher after earning my Bachelor's degree in Birth-Kindergarten Teaching education, as well as earning my licensure in this area. As of now, I will be homemaking and am inspired to create resources that teachers, moms (like myself), caregivers, etc., can use to support young learners.
