Thurmantha completed her B.PS. in Children and Family Services , and M.A.T in Special Education K-12 from the University of Memphis. She has taught for over 15 years and assumed roles as : Educator, Interventionist, and Instructional Coach. Her passion and dedication to education lead her to Clarksville , TN after working as an Instructional Coach with KIPP Nashville charter schools. She has completed her Childcare Administration Certification from TECTA Austin Peay State University. Thurmantha prides herself in encouraging students to think,play,and grow in a safe nurturing space of diverse learners.
I embrace cultural relativism and encourage students to take ownership of their academic success . Students learn from each other, by encouraging classroom team building and small group learning. I enjoy assisting ECE professionals create systems that work in the classroom.
First grade Lead teacher on 2015 - 2016 team , that successfully after one year had, 84% of our 1st grade class finish the year in the top two quartiles, with 60% finishing in the top percentile on MAP NWEA Spring 2016. May 2015 State of Tennessee ANET ELA highest overall gains for Second Grade ELA growth for Achievement School District. May 2014 / 2015 Highest student growth using STEP as literacy benchmark for Frayser Achievement School District for Second grade.
