I spent many years as a music teacher in a small district where I taught Kindergarten through Seniors in high school. I moved districts and for 4 years I taught exclusively computer apps to middle school students grades 6-8. Now I have the best of both world and I teach middle school computer and choir!! Outside of my public school job, I teach piano and voice, work with community theater kids and coding classes.
I do what works for me and my students. Isn't that what teachers do? I like to use games with all my students from kindergarten to seniors. Big kids like games too! I also like to use project based activities. I try to give my student freedom with parameters.
Do happy students count as an honor? I had the opportunity to teach with a former student. Although she taught a different subject she told me that one of her students had trouble remembering their vocabulary words. She used songs I taught her as a little girl to help her student. That was one of my most rewarding moments as a teacher.
