I am a certified Reading, English, and Language Arts classroom teacher in the state of Maryland, but I have taught a variety of ages in a variety of environments. I have tutored one-on-one, taught teenagers in a public school classroom, taught adults at a community college, tutored elementary-aged students online in ESL, reading, and test prep, and provided educational consulting services to parents.
Constructivist: I believe that learning is done by the learner; it is the teacher's job to facilitate. ~~~ Interactive: Learning happens best in context. We learn the best when we can relate new information to past or present experiences. ~~~ Data-Informed: As a teacher, if you can't point to evidence that a child has made academic progress in your class, you cannot know if you've done your job.
My book, Suddenly Homeschooled: Everything You Need To Know For Last-Minute, Short-Notice, or Covid-19 Homeschooling, made it to the top of the Amazon kindle charts in the category of Homeschooling.
In 2005 I graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University with a degree in English and French. In 2007 I received my M.A. from Baylor in English. In 2010 I graduated from the Duke University School of Law. I became a teacher in 2013 and obtained state certification in 2017.
