My journey to becoming an ESL teacher is littered with multicultural experiences, patience, and personal and professional growth. I graduated from Michigan State University with my teaching degree including a double minor in Spanish and TESOL. I studied abroad in Spain where I gained the perspective of what it's like to learn in a different language. From there, I have volunteered and worked in demographically diverse schools and programs including tutoring migrant farming families, supporting after-school programs for low-income students, and teaching students whose native languages are Arabic, Bengali, and Ukrainian. My diverse experiences have led me to not only support multilingual students but also the teachers who work with them day in and day out.
Build relationships and confidence in a supportive community. The students learn from you, and you learn from the students.
