I have taught in both Illinois and Michigan. I have 8 years of experience teaching K-8 general music, 5 years directing a middle school Orff Ensemble, and 2 years directing elementary choir.
I enjoy interactive lessons that touch on multiple perspectives. Music is presented with references to social studies, math, science, and language. My students know that lessons will actively engage them in all aspects of music making from theory and history to composition and performance.

I earned a Master's of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL and a Bachelor's of Music History & Literature from Bloomsburg University of PA. I have also completed Orff-Schulwerk Levels I and II teacher training in Ann Arbor, MI.
It has been said that people become teachers for one of two reasons: 1. they loved school as a child and want to share that joy 2. they hated school as a child and want to change education for the future generations. I firmly fall into the first camp. I knew from a young age that I wanted to teach music. My grandmother was my first music teacher, and I continued to be blessed with wonderful teachers. Throughout college, I met some of my grandmother's former students, who continued to share the passion and joy of her teachings. I also have two siblings who have become classroom teachers.
