I spent most of my teaching career working as a Reading Specialist for grades K-8 in Title 1 schools. I've also been a classroom teacher in grades 1-3. I've taught in Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas during my 40 years of working with students. I was an Instructional Coach for 2 years working with staff members in 2 great schools too.
As a Reading Specialist, I worked with small groups of students during RTI. I also supervised paras and university co-op students teaching in our school. Since we only had 1 hour classes, I made every minute count by being prepared, expecting cooperation and focus from my students and collaborating with classroom teachers as often as I could.
