Mary B. Collins I taught high school English at Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Maryland. Since then, I have been writing lesson plans and building my business--which keeps me in touch with teachers in the classroom and on top of developments in the field via networking, professional associations, reading, webinars, and many other ways. I've trained many teacher-writers to write literature lesson plans, worked with lots of student interns to help them get started in the field, and homeschooled our two sons. I've been active in the field of English/Education for over 35 years.
I tend towards a conservative teaching style, using a mixture of traditional and contemporary methods, depending on the objectives. Most of the unit plans I write are flexible--able to be used in a variety of situations and for a variety of levels of students. One of the most interesting things over the years has been listening to teachers tell me the many different ways and situations in which they have used my LitPlans.

B.A. English/Secondary Education from Towson University
I was a teacher-author decades before TpT began. :-) After teaching high school English for a number of years, I moved to an area where there were no teaching jobs. So, in 1989 I set up shop in a spare bedroom of our home, started writing lesson plans, and Teacher's Pet Publications was born. With literally hundreds of thousands of LitPlans and other resources sold over the years, Teacher's Pet Publications has grown more than I ever dreamed it would. Yet, here I am, 30+ years later, still writing lesson plans and still loving working with teachers.
