My name is Ariana Morrow, and I'm currently a middle school teacher educating students with significant cognitive disabilities. As a special education teacher in Texas for the past ten years, I’ve taught students with multiple disabilities at both the elementary and middle school levels, delivered through co-teach, self-contained, redirect and alternative learning environment settings and models. I’m a featured teacher in the Online Training Module for the Low Incidence Statewide Network and a Region 20 Exemplary Educator. I wrote a webinar that is used across the state to educate teachers on “Evidence Based Strategies for Teaching Students with Down Syndrome.” I teach adult education classes on lesson planning, positive behavior supports, scheduling, curriculum accommodations, data collection and classroom management for educational service centers across Texas.
Working with this diverse group of students, a special education teacher must figure out how to most effectively tackle the mountain of tasks that they have before them. Our students need so much, immediately, but this cannot be effectively done without preparation. Knowing how to prioritize is essential. Students need schedules, visuals, and of course, meaningful activities. Teachers need plans and guides on how to navigate through the day's challenges. All of this takes time, and it's my goal to create resources that give you the time to develop your own unique teaching style.
As a Magna Cum Laude graduate, I was included in Who's Who of American University Students and was awarded Most Outstanding Senior. I'm the recipient of the Superintendent's Award and the Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching.
Masters in Education (Instructional Leadership) and certified EC-12 Special Education, EC-4 ESL Generalist and EC-12 Physical Education.
