My professional experience includes teaching in preschool and prek programs and directing preschool programs. I have worked in community-based, private and Christian preschool programs.
I have also worked with children grades K-6 in mid-week programs as well as planning for and running a weekly youth program for middle and high school aged students.
I am an active Sunday school teacher and coordinator; involved in Safe Church Policy and Practice and provide care (aprox 7 hours a week) at the local YMCA ChildWatch program.
As a Preschool Director, I have much experience in budgeting, organization and management.
I have planned many in-service trainings for staff, which I am putting into online in-service workshops for preschool teachers in addition to creating the many handbooks directors utilize (such as Parent Handbooks, Staff Handbooks, etc.).
My approach to teaching reflects a developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning environment. I believe that children learn by doing, by asking questions and by exploring, investigating and trying out their ideas in an environment that allows them to learn through practice and through mistakes.
I believe that in a well planned classroom, our preschoolers will be drawn into learning in a hands-on way!

I also enjoy reading, gardening, walking and trying to motivate myself via self talks, to go to the gym! ;)
