TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi there! My name is Ms. DJ and I am a pre-school teacher. I have worked at Celebrate the Children, a school for students with alternative learning styles, for the past 10 years. This is my 5th year teaching preschool. I work with primarily non-verbal students with autism, anxiety, sensory processing disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is hands-on, experience based learning. My main focuses include using students passions to drive instruction, supporting their unique sensory needs, and co-regulation.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Susquehanna University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. After working at Celebrate the Children, I changed my major to become a teacher. I graduated from Montclair State University in 2018 with a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching with Advanced Standing in Early Childhood Education and Teacher of Students with Disabilities in Pre-School through Third Grade.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I work at Celebrate the Children school which is a progressive program based on the Developmental Individual Relationship Based (DIR®) Intervention Model developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan and Dr. Serena Wieder. At our school, developmental levels and individual profiles drive planning and instruction. Lessons encourage engagement and development of relationships with both adults and peers. Floortime is incorporated in lessons and hands on activities.
